Sutandra Sarkar

Sutandra Sarkar is a dedicated mathematics instructor with extensive experience in teaching and curriculum development. She holds a Master of Science in Atmospheric Sciences from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Mathematics from Jadavpur University, and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Mathematics from Lady Brabourne College.Since 2019, Ms. Sarkar has served as a Principal Academic Professional in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgia State University. In this role, she coordinates the Urban Life MILE (Mathematics Interactive Learning Environment), providing core math courses to thousands of students each semester. She also advises the Math & Stat Club, fostering a community of students interested in mathematical sciences.Ms. Sarkar’s teaching philosophy emphasizes active learning and student engagement. She has organized special sessions on active learning in undergraduate mathematics, highlighting her commitment to innovative instructional strategies.Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Sarkar is involved in mentoring pre-doctoral students through the National Alliance for Doctoral Studies in the Mathematical Sciences, demonstrating her dedication to supporting the next generation of mathematicians.
