Keyboard School Atlanta Instructor Steven Yelich

Steven Yelich completed the Master of Music program at Georgia State University after having earned summa cum laude distinction from the Jazz Studies and Honors undergraduate program at the University of South Carolina.

As part of these programs he studied classical theory, classical performance, jazz theory, jazz improvisation, jazz combo arranging, big band arranging, advanced notation with Finale, composition, and recording technology.

He is currently the band leader, rehearsal director, keyboardist and vocalist for the band Atlanta Beat with Event Performance, which plays weddings, corporate parties, and special events. He has played in receptions for USC President Harris Pastides, GSU President Mark Becker, the Karen Alexander Foundation, the Skipp Pearson Foundation, the Atlanta Theatrical Company, and in local restaurants in Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA. Before his college career, he earned a Black Belt in American Martial Arts and was also valedictorian of his graduating class. Steven’s ambitions include producing multiple original albums, expanding his live performances and working as a studio musician.

AIMM Keyboard Instructor Pat Strawser
Pat Strawser began his music education with classical piano lessons in 1985. Born and raised in Athens, Georgia, the eclectic and abundant musical atmosphere of Athens inspired in him a lifelong love of in music. Pat played trombone in high school marching band and was 1st chair trombone in his high school jazz band. He started his first band, Volaré, in 1993. Volaré blended an interesting mix of fusion, progressive rock, and jazz. The band released The Uncertainty Principle (The Laser’s Edge) in 1997 and achieved critical acclaim with an international audience.
Over the last 30 years, Pat has continued to expand his musical experience offering private piano lessons, studio production work, working as an audio-visual tech for various churches, performing in wedding and jazz bands, and working with singers/songwriters. He currently tours nationally with Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Tribute. When Pat is not on tour, he works with various other groups in the Athens and Atlanta area. He is also a member of the Bill Hart Band and contributed to his most recent album, “A Touch of Blue.”
Other artists he's worked with include John Berry, Connor Pledger, Jim Perkins, Ian Webber (The Tender Idols), Cosmic Charlie (Grateful Dead Tribute), and Yacht Rock Schooner.
In addition to his musical performance experience, Pat is also a prolific composer, contributing soundtrack music for video and video games. Pat enjoys integrating new technology into his musical repertoire and excels in the field of media production and orchestration.
Pat holds a BA in sociology and a Masters of Education with a focus on Instructional Design and Development from the University of Georgia. Using his additional talents of graphic and instructional design, he provides a unique skill-set that he eagerly contributes to his students.
He is an instructor of scale theory, reading, and jazz performance at The Atlanta Institute of Music and Media in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Atlanta Keyboard Music School Assistant Instructor Godfrey Grannum

Godfrey Grannum is a well-traveled versatile musician with International Experience and Flavor. He is a native of a small island in the West Indies called Barbados, where he spent his early childhood and teen years learning to play piano.  Born the middle boy to two sisters, Godfrey grew up in a very close family where his Mom and Dad always gave him the confidence to follow his dreams no matter where it leads.  While still living in Barbados music lead him to play the prestigious Barbados Jazz Festival (twice), The Almond Beach Resort Orchestra and represented Barbados as a diplomat in Ghana West Africa (Music Festival). Several other music events in and around the West Indies lead Godfrey to take his Talents to New York City where he lived briefly before moving down to Atlanta to play with (the very popular at that time reggae band) Temple Yard.

Atlanta, Ga became home for Godfrey as he was called on to play with several corporate and wedding bands (Celebrity All-star Band, Synergy Band and Ascension Band) along with churches (Peachtree Presbyterian Church, Browns Bridge Church and Free Chapel) along with countless others.

Godfrey was a band member with the National Basketball Association only resident house band with the Atlanta Hawks “Crowd Control” rated #1 entertainment in the NBA.

Godfrey has recorded with several bands and artist:

Cadillac Jones – The Big Takedown, Bethany Olds, Antonia Lawrence The PR Experience, Temple Yard, Sherwin Garner.

He has appeared at ever popular hotspot for live music in and around Atlanta including:

Atlanta Jazz Festival: Café 290, Fox Theater, Tabernacle, Smiths Ole Bar, Kats café, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint, Rays in the City and many more.  Godfrey is an active member of the Georgia Music Awards Jazz Band of the Year 2014 & 2015 “The PR Experience” which features a full horn section and classic rhythm section. You can catch live shows around town as Godfrey plays with several local acts weekly.

Godfrey is currently finishing his Music and Technology degree in recording and piano at Atlanta Institute of Music and Media.
