Vitali Tkachenka

Author of “Modern Scales Concepts” and AIMM Faculty

“From my experience of being an AIMM student, I can tell you only one thing — after years, it still feels like home. I always feel glad to return to the Atlanta Institute of Music. All the people are glad to see you and help you. That school — it’s not just a school. It’s a first, but very, very strong step.”

Vitali Tkachenka is an internationally recognized guitarist, composer, and educator whose innovative approach to rock fusion reflects both deep technical mastery and global musical influence. A native of Belarus, Vitali began his formal training under the mentorship of Yuri Dzmitrieu and later studied with renowned guitarist Vladimir Tkachenko, where he incorporated advanced techniques like two-hand tapping and developed a broad musical vocabulary spanning jazz, classical, and experimental genres.

After teaching and performing across Belarus — including national broadcasts and festival appearances — Vitali moved to the U.S. in 2006 to study guitar at the Atlanta Institute of Music. He graduated with honors and has since become a cornerstone of AIMM’s guitar faculty, inspiring students with a style rooted in precision, expression, and genre-blending innovation.

Vitali leads the Vitali T Project, an instrumental jazz-rock fusion band with international releases on labels such as V.Kay Productions and NFL Produksjoner. He has performed with acts like ATL City Jazz, TY Steele Band (featuring Adam Nitti), and Karizma Katz, among others. In addition to his performance career, Vitali is the author of several instructional books, including “Killer Technique: Electric Guitar” (Mel Bay) and “Technique Workout for the Modern Guitarist.”

Vitali is proudly endorsed by One-Control FX, Carvin Audio, Godin Guitars, Dean Markley Strings, Eastman Guitars, and more.
