Grants
Federal Pell Grant
Federal Pell grants are available to eligible students.
Eligibility is determined by the U.S. Department of Education based on a formula approved by Congress.
The formula uses the information that is supplied by the parent and/or student on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to produce an EFC (Expected Family Contribution). Award amounts are prorated based on the number of hours for which a student is enrolled.
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Grants are available to students pursuing a first bachelor’s degree who show exceptional financial need.
Due to limited funds, grants at AIMM usually do not exceed $800 per year. To apply, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Loans
Educational loans are the largest financial resource available to students pursuing postsecondary education.
Atlanta Institute of Music and Media participates in the Federal Direct Loan Program.
The Federal Direct Loan Program allows students and/or parents to borrow money at low interest rates, with no collateral, and generally no co-signer (with the potential exception of Private Student Loans).
Additionally, Federal Direct Student Loans do not need to be repaid until the student graduates, withdraws or drops to less-than-half-time status.
To get more information about the Federal Direct Student Loan Program (FDSLP), you can log on to the Federal Student Aid webpage at www.studentloans.gov.
Veterans’ Education Benefits
AIMM is an approved Veteran training facility, and therefore our students may be eligible to receive their Montgomery GI Bill®* (Chapter 30), Post-9/11 Bill (Chapter 33), Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31), or Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Benefits (Chapter 35) to help fund their education here.
Please note, AIMM does not currently participate in the Yellow Ribbon program.
All VA students must file an application before attending school. Students who have never received VA Education Benefits before must file an original application (veterans VA Form 22-1990; dependents VA Form 22-5490; ToE students VA-Form 22-1990e). Students who have received VA benefits before must file a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (veterans and ToE students VA Form 22-1995; dependents VA Form 22-5495). Students applying for CH 33 in lieu of (or relinquishing) another benefit should complete a VA Form 22-1990.
Students will be required to submit copies of VA benefits applications to AIMM prior to the beginning of their enrollment.
VA students can submit applications online https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/
If students don’t have access to apply online they can call 1-888-442-4551 and ask that an application be mailed to them. Students can also call 888-442-4551 to talk with a VA case manager regarding any specific questions they have or to determine eligibility.
Any student planning to use VA Education Benefits must submit a Certificate of Eligibility and/or Statement of Benefits during the admissions process.
Also, students wishing to use VA Education Benefits must submit an official transcript from every college, training center, or institution they have ever attended, regardless of completion of program. For more information, please contact your AIMM admissions advisor.
